RashiMessianic Jewish Rabbinate has been expanding its online course offerings of late, resulting in the availability of faculty positions in the following departments:

  • Professor of Biblical Studies

    – candidate should be able to approach the books of the B’rit Chadasha from a Messianic Jewish perspective
    – candidate is advised that MJR has not nailed down tentpegs on any of the authorship views re: Hebrews (thus encourages multiple viewed to be entertained), but does hold to an Aramaic primacy understanding of the text.
  • Professor of Languages
    – courses available include Modern Hebrew (HEB-401), and all Koine Greek courses.
    – if candidate is proficient in Ugaritic, Syriac, or Coptic (Sahidic) and wishes to take on any of those courses, they can be appropriated to the candidate as well.
    – Koine Greek courses should be approached as an early “target language” (with Aramaic and Hebrew as the Vorlage languages of the respective Urtexts).
  • Department Head/Professor of Jewish Studies
    – all courses are available at this time.
    – candidate should be able to exhibit deeper than passing study in Talmud.
    – candidate would function as the head of the Jewish Studies program and would be empowered to recruit additional faculty as deemed necessary or profitable to the program.
    – candidate would (for now) serve on the dissertation panel for all students.
  • Department Head/Professor of Practical Rabbinics
    – all courses are available at this time, though some of the 200-level courses are currently in development.
    – candidate should be well-versed in Biblical counseling (as opposed to psychological/psychiatric methods).
    – candidate would function as the head of the Practical Rabbinics and would be empowered to recruit additional faculty as deemed necessary or profitable to the program.
  • Department Head/Professor of Cantorial Arts/Chazzan Studies
    – all courses are available at this time.
    – chazzan experience is preferred, but negotiable.
    – candidate would function as the head of the Chazzan program and would be empowered to recruit additional faculty as as deemed necessary or profitable to the program.

All open courses have yet to be developed, and the candidate selected would have freedom to develop the course as he or she sees fit, including selection of textbooks and creation of supplementary course content (audio, video, handouts, etc.). Administration reserves the right to approve the final syllabus and any tools selected before course launch, but will work with the faculty member to reach a mutually-agreeable platform.
